《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” (Heb 9:27)
Meditation one: What is the destiny that the people of this world cannot overthrow? It is that “all people are destined to die!” No matter who you are, rich or poor, knowledgeable or illiteracy, noble or ordinary, you cannot traverse the line of death. “The wages of sin is death” (Rom 6:23). What is even more frightening is that this is not the very end of the destined death, but to encounter the “after that to face judgment.” Today, God does not judge you but give you the opportunity to repent because of the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness, forbearance, and patience. However, when the day of righteous judgment comes and you still do not repent, He will render to every one according to their deeds.
Meditation two: Can you be exempted from God’s judgment as long as everything is done by good conscience? It is not possible only because God is the source of all goodness. No matter how good a person is, the person cannot be as good as God is. God knows that it is impossible for people to be saved by their deeds. So He is compassionate, as a decreed, that it is only by grace, through faith, people can be saved; not by deeds (Eph 2:8-9). The Lord Jesus promised: “whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank You for everything that You have done for me, which are far more abundantly than all that I ask or think. Give me wisdom to cherish my limited time and live for You. Let me on that day is not ashamed to face You, but joyfully meet You. I prayer in the victorious name of the Lord Jesus, Amen!
