Thursday《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance.” (Luke 22:54)
Meditation one: On that day in the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus’ heart was in an agony. Although Peter followed the Lord and came to the garden, Peter failed to be watchful and pray with the Lord. Peter fell into sleep at the moment when Lord Jesus needed spiritual support most. Do we act like Peter? We fall into sleep while praying; follow the Lord but not all the way to the end.
Meditation two: When the Lord Jesus was brought into the courtyard of the High priest, Peter only fearfully followed from afar, kept his distance in order to be safe. When the Lord was teased and humiliated and suffered, Peter publicly denied the Lord three times. We criticize Peter for being ungrateful, but if it were us, would we be stauncher than Peter was?
Prayer: Dear Father of love, thank You for Your amazing grace. The Lord Jesus was crucified for our sins. How can such love be forgotten? Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on me, let me love You with all my heart; Let me follow You with all my mind, and let me serve You in full. I pray in the precious name of the Lord Jesus, Amen!
Intercession: Pray for Christians’ testimony. Let Christians witness the Lord’s love and care in this world of restlessness. Do not follow the world’s fears, panic, selfishness, and snapping up. Through the lives of Christians, let people see the Christians’ faith, hope and love.
