《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psa 17:1)
Meditation one: Can Christians be exempted from the outbreak of this epidemic hurricane? This is not conceivable! But those who trust God do not need to be afraid. The assurance that we are not afraid comes from the trust in our relationship with God, which is so intimate that God is “my” light, “my” salvation, and “my life”. In this particular relationship, He leads us in triumph in Him, and is even more than conquerors.
Meditate two: Do you know what is more frightening than the new coronavirus? It is sin. Viruses can kill people but only destroy the body at most, yet sin can kill your body and also annihilate your soul. The Lord Jesus said: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Mat 10:28). The wage of sin is the eternal death of body and soul. May the Holy Spirit shine so that we can confess our sins and repent in time, and can have a lively life.
Prayer: God heavenly Father, thank You for your assurance. Because you are my light, my salvation, my life’s stronghold, I will not be afraid. Pray that God will help me. In addition to preparing my mind for action and guarding against virus, I will always guard against spiritual viruses. Let me live in Your peace in the light of You. I pray in the holy name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
