《Today’s spiritual meditation》:  “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.” (Jas 1:2)

Meditation one: When Christians face trials of many kinds, why still sing “Hallelujah”? It is because that any difficulties we encounter not only are allowed by God, but also is His gracious will. Any adversity that comes to us is not to destroy us, but to refine us; it is not to punish us, but to remind us; not to fail us, but to give us the chance to prevail. In fact, God allows us to encounter trials because He values us. He surely will give us the strength to prevail.

Meditation two: What makes a Christian to live a life of “pure Joy”? It is because that is the promise and command of Jesus Christ. The greatest joy often not comes from a favorable situation, but after hardships. The Lord Jesus said, “Your grief will turn to joy” (Joh 16:20). The Bible does not ask us to blindly treat grief as joy, but to have a correct perspective toward suffering and trials, knowing that God’s guidance is always for our good.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the pure joy that You have given during trials. Please help me so whatever the difficulty I may encounter, I will not be self-pity, will not have doubt, will not ever run away, but will joyfully face it. You have already promised “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (Jas 1:12).  Lord! I want to fearlessly trust in You. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen!
