Spiritual Meditation on the Gospel of Matthew
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel” (Mat 1:23)
Meditation one: Is Christmas related to the New Year? Yes, absolutely. Jesus Christ came to the world in order to save sinners. He fulfilled His salvation by being crucified, so that God is with us, and that is the meaning of Emanuel. His presence is not stay around us but resides in us; not temporary, but eternal; not by feeling, but by faith; not by objectivity, but by subjective experience. If you accept Him as the savior of your life and the Lord of your daily activities, “Emanuel ” then has practical implications for your New Year.
Meditation two: What is your New Year’s wish? What is your prayer? The presence of God is more important than anything else. God is with you, invincible; God is with you, victorious; God is with you, full of hope; God is with you, never alone; there is God, ministry full of strength; there is God in the family, there is love; there is God, there is heaven.
Prayer: Dear Abba Father, thank You for Your new creation in Christ. “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Co 5:17). Ask You to send the Holy Spirit to live in my heart. In the presence of You I will be willing to pursue renewal every day in the year of 2019. Faith roots more firmly, serving even more faithfully, loving more sincerely, and spiritual seeking more sturdily. Pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” (Mat 2:2)
Meditation one: In the new Year, would you like to make worshiping Lord the most important thing? The three wisemen, who specialized in astronomy, was inspired by the Old Testament to believe that the bright star they saw was the signs of the birth of the Savior, and they came specially to worship Jesus. They not only came to worship the Lord, they presented with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the Lord. We should learn from them and worship the King of kings, the Lord of the Lords, with a grateful heart.
Meditation two: Why should Christians worship God? For worship God is the purpose for which He created us, and we worship Him to express our reverence, serving, gratitude, and love. God specially arranged The Lord’s day for the sake of people, not a day off or a holiday, but a holy day of Worship of God. May we never be absent on every Sunday in 2019, and solely honor the Lord’s day as holy, and praise God with our brothers and sisters.
Prayer: God heavenly Father, my God! I will praise You, You deserve glory, honor, and might, for You has created all; all things were made by the Your own will. I would like to thank You for leading me into the year of 2019 and asking You to teach me how to make the best use of my time to serve You and cherish every day of worship. Lord! I would like to be humbly, initiatively and willingly to participate in the eternal, meaningful ministry. Pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. “ (Mat 3:8)
Meditate one: When you step into the new year and take a new path, do you take a new heart with you? You have been baptized, yet did you conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ? You are a Christian, but was the fruit produced keeping with repentance? True repentance does not refer to the act of appearance, verbal, or etiquette, but not only to the contriteness, remorse, and shame of what was done in the past, but also make up your mind to break with the past, turn away from sin, return to God, and live in His will.
Meditation two: Would you like to live a new life as a “new you” in the new Year? Humbly come to God and pray, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone (dead, unresponsive) and give you a heart of flesh (Alive, responsive). “ (Eze 36:26). Thank Lord, belief in Christ has made us new creations in Him. The old has gone, the new is here.
Prayer: Thank You heavenly Father for giving the new life. Guide me in the New year, completely live a new spirit and new life, full of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. I am determined to live for You and live more abundantly, more constructively, and more loving You than last year. Pray in the Precious Holy Name of Jesus. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: Jesus said: “Away from me, Satan (devil)! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve (worship) Him only’.” (Mat 4:10)
Meditation one: Can Christians overpower the devil on their own? No! The Devil can easily deceive a man’s heart by being bait with all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor, and make a man to worship him, and reject God as much as he does. We just trust in God and always pray and read the Word of God. The Word of God is the sword of the Holy Spirit and the weapon to defeat devil.
Meditation two: How can Christians, in all walks of life, still “serve the Lord alone”? It is for the sake of Lord you do your part in order to serve God, to witness God, and to glorify God. Christians cannot serve both God and mammon [fortune] (Mat 6:24).
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me the assurance of victory over Satan. Help me, in every day, when I face the choice between loving God or the world, serving Lord or the world, pleasing God or the world, let me bravely say “NO !” to the world, and say “YES !” to God. Pray in Thy Precious Name. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven..” (Mat 5:16)
Meditation one: Why do Christians should shine the light in the world for Him? For this dark world does need the light most, and Christ is the only true light in this world. The Lord Christ sent us into the world to shine for Him. Because of His new creation, we have “been” the light in this world, and we do not need to try to “create” a light, our responsibility is only to reveal the meaning of the light.
Meditation two: Do you know the most popular cause that makes people in this world not so easy to believe in Lord? They do not see living testimony in Christians. They feel that if Christians’ behavior, character, and morality are inferior to non-Christians, what is the point of believing in Lord? Ask the Holy Spirit to shine, forgive our weakness and guilty conscience, forgive us for dishonoring the name of the Lord. Pray for God to create in me a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me, and live out the glory of the Lord Jesus.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for discharging the trust of your mission of the light to me. Help me, let me shine in this chaotic generation so I am no longer a hidden Christian, but actively kindle the light of life for You, and let others see Your glory through me. Pray in Thy precious Holy Name. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Mat 6:33-34)
Meditate one: Why does the Lord Jesus not want us to worry about tomorrow? Because the God we believe is the same yesterday and today and forever. As long as we place ” His kingdom and His righteousness ” as the first priority of today, that is, to know God and build relationships with Him as the primary thing, everything beyond He will be fully responsible and supply all our needs.
Meditation two: Are you worried about here and there and many miscellaneous things? Is your difficulty pressing you out of breath? Turn to the Lord Jesus! Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Do you know that He knew your needs long before you turned to Him. For He is “the Lord who carries our burdens every day, the God Who Saves us” (Psalm 68:19) When we think of this, we should thank and praise Him.
Prayer: Abba Father in heaven, thank You for Your promise to govern Your power. Teach me, whatever I do, seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Why should I worry about tomorrow when You holds tomorrow. I want to look upon You alone and ask You to strengthen my determination to obey You. Pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Everyone therefore that hears these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon the rock. “(Mat 7:24-25)
Meditation one: What is the foundation of your spiritual and daily life? Any protection from mankind is absolutely not dependable, and only God’s Words (Bible) is settled in heaven and never be moved. The Bible is not used to increase our knowledge, but to change our lives and enrich the meaning of our lives. Reading the Bible is not to read to people, but to let God speak to us. The Lord said, ” The one who listens to the Word of God and abides by it is truly blessed! But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. ” (Luke 11:28)
Meditation two: Are you a “wise man” or a “foolish one”? In the eyes of God, the difference is in whether you “listen then do” to the Words of God. Those who hear and do the Words like wise men who build faith in the solid rock of Jesus Christ, and they can stand the test of this life and the life after.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the foundation You established. Shape me to have an ear that listens to your Words and a heart that is willing to do Your will. Let me pant after Your Words every morning like a deer pants after the water brooks. I would like to be Your child of obedience. Pray in the precious name of the Lord Jesus. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: Jesus said, ” You of little faith, why are you so afraid? Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.” (Mat 8:26)
Meditation one: Will belief in Jesus mean that everything be smooth and prosperous without trouble? It is not possible for Christians to live in this world without turbulence. Yet please do not forget that no matter how severe the storm is, our Lord is on our ship. He will be sailing together with us. The Lord who is in charge of the wind and waves is with us, and we need not fear wherever we go.
Meditation two: While facing the unknown future, do you have faith? Is it a great faith or a little faith? Jesus said sternly to the little faith believers for their distrust and falter toward the power of God’s Word. Great faith is simply to believe in God’s Word, to seize God’s promise, to let God’s Word change the environment, and not to let the environment change God’s Word. God sometimes tests our faith with a storm of permission so that we could enter into His abundance.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your assurance. I do not know the situation of this year’s pathway. whether I will encounter external or internal wind and waves, I first entrust myself to You because You are in charge of my tomorrow. Please strengthen my faith, and I would live every day in accordance with Your Words. Pray in Your precious holy name. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: ” It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. ⋯ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Mat 9:12-13)
Meditation one: What kind of people are the hardest to accept the gospel? It is those who identify themselves as successful, prosperous and healthy, who do not recognize themselves as those who need the gospel. Patients admit to being ill and ask for doctors. Sinners admit guilt and need the Savior. In fact, there is no righteous man in this world. Jesus came to call those who knew that they were sinners. Only those who repent in front of God can be saved.
Meditation two: Do you know that you are the object of God’s love? He knows the pain of your heart, feels your struggles, and understands your situation. But first you must put down your self-righteousness, complacency, and pride. Come to the Lord as a simple and humble child with a broken and contrite heart. God will not despise it, as long as you turn to God, Today, He will save you, release you, and heal you.
Prayer: Thank God for the power of His salvation. I confess that I am trivial, limited, weak and powerless. I need your healing, and send the Holy Spirit to dwell in my heart, and help me in my time of need. Since I live by the Spirit, let me keep in step with the Spirit in everything (Gal 5:25). Pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen! Come to the Lord as a simple and humble child with a broken and contrite heart. (Just combine the sentences into one 🙂
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: ” Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (Mat 10:29-30)
Meditate one: Do you know how much you are worth in the eyes of the heavenly Father? If He does not let sparrows die casually, how about us? God values us to a point where, in order to save us from death, He sacrificed His only begotten son Jesus to die for us. The punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
Meditation two: Friend, are you being attacked, framed, forsaken, or are you being fired, tortured by illness, troubled by debt, trapped by stress? Don’t be afraid! Please believe in our Abba Father, whom He knows all these. If even the hairs of all of our heads have been numbered, this does mean that everything we have encountered is not accidental. Yes, everything that has happened to us is what He has allowed and arranged, and He knows what is good for us.
Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your understanding and meticulous cares for me. When I encounter difficulties, I often complain and panic. Forgive my little faith. Lord, strengthen my faith, and I am willing to obey Your guidance. Pray in the Holy Name of the Lord Jesus. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》”Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” (John 8:31-32)
Meditation one: Are you truly a Christ’s disciple? Only if you always hold the teaching of Christ and are willing to do what He does, to say what He says, to love what He loves, to act what He acts. A true disciple surely always lives a life of true freedom.
Meditation two: What is the difference between the freedom of Christ and the freedom of Satan? Christ gives us “the Freedom from not being bound” because it comes from the truth, is converged by the truth, and nothing that is away from the truth can be conceded to. Freedom only exists when keeps on the path of the truth. “Where is the spirit of the Lord, and there is Freedom” (2Co3:17). Satan offers “a freedom of being controlled” It claims: You can do whatever you like or desire. It eventually makes you become a slave of sin, falling into the great deep of suffering, and cannot set yourself free.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You. For Your truth makes me free. Help me to keep my heart steadfast: I will not do anything that is away from Your truth, or against God’s will, or grieve the Holy Spirit. I only ask to reveal Your truth in me. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ” (Mat 11:28)
Meditate one: Are you being crushed by cumbersome loads on your shoulder so that you are living under pressure? Whether it is the burden of struggling with sin, or because of financial pressure, harsh job, discorded family, rebelling children, fruitless ministry, tense relationship, exclusion because of faith, or various kinds of burdens, The Lord Jesus cordially invite you, and He says, “Come, my friend! I will give you a gift, which is the rest of your spirit.”
Meditation two: What kind of people will accept Jesus ‘ invitation? It is those who admit that are weary and burdened, and that only Jesus can break free from these burdens. As long as you are willing to come, He will give you rest. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them. (Heb 7:25)
Pray: Lord Jesus, I thank You for the true rest You give to me. I admit that I am often busy with many things, even too busy to know why I am busy. The busier I am, the more I am not able to rest. Lord, forgive me for my past recklessness and ignorance. Today, I am willing to accept Your invitation and cherish every moment and live in Your rest. Pray in Your precious name. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” (Mat 13:23)
Meditation one: The sowed seeds are all the Word of God, so why do they grow out of great difference? What type of soil is your heart? Is it hard earth or shallow soil? Is it the earth among the thorns or the good soil? It all matters about how you respond to God’s Word. Just as how abundantly you have received after reading the Bible today, lies upon the response of your heart.
Meditation two: What is the secret of bearing glorious fruit out of a good soil? These are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the Word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience. (Luke 8:15). Whoever listens to the Word and does do what it says, his life would bear a rich fruit.
Prayer: God heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Words. As soon as Your Word is untied, it shines. You said, “Blessed are those who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart!” (Psalm 119:2) Help me Lord, I would like to walk with You through the daily reading of the Bible. Not only to read Your Words, but also to live out. Pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “ “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”” (Mat 14:30-31)
Meditation one: Are you in the midst of illness, tribulation, frustration, and grief in your life? Are you just falling into the darkest valley? Is the death approaching onto you? Turn to the Lord of life and cry out, “Lord, save me!” Since the Lord Jesus is the Savior of our lives and the Lord of our daily activities, why not turn to the Lord who created all and has been in charge of the entire history. He can calm the storm and bring salvation on the earth. He promised: “Anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Heb 11:6b)
Meditate two: On the way to follow Christ, are you on your own or on the environment? Do you rely on yourself or on God? Seeking help from God does not mean that you are weak or useless, but does mean to trust and obey Lord Jesus completely. Remember: “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit” (Zec 4:6)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for not forsaking me as a person with a timid faith. Increase my faith and let my eyes fix only upon Your triumph when encounter difficulties. God heavenly Father has promised not to forsake me as an orphan. What else should I doubt about? Please raise my faith. Pray in Thy precious Holy Name. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules” (Mat 15:8-9)
Meditation one: As long as continue singing hymns and praising God at church, giving offering and listening to the sermon, will consider as worshiping God? No, worship is not just the decrees of the outside, but must be based on the true relationship between the human heart and God. Verbally says, “Thank You, Lord!” Nevertheless there is no point for a worship that your heart is staying away from God. They are like the eldest son of the prodigal parable, the body is at home, but the heart is wandering away.
Meditation two: What type of worship that God will never be pleased? Those are people whose “lips respect God but heart stays away from God”. If we only pay attention to what people say, but do not care what God says, even exalt people, take people’s orders as truth, and regard people’s views as God’s promise to enlighten them, then our worship is in vain. We mustn’t worship people as god. We “Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only” (Mat 4:10)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You. Only You are worthy of praise, worship, and sing the praises. Teach me how to worship You in the Spirit and in truth. We value the close relationship with you, so that my life, no matter when and where, is to live a godly worship life, is a life of respect and consistent inside and outward. Pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Mat 16:24)
Meditation one: Are you a Christian or a disciple? When you accept the salvation of the Lord as a Christian, you are a disciple of Christ. But those whom called by Jesus are definitely not casual, sloppy, dazed Christians, but an inclusive, thorough follower, a disciple who dared to be different from the world. They are those who die to sin and the world and are willing to obey the Lord. For Christ’s sake, they followed the Lord faithfully, even at the risk of your life – no retreat, no regret, no return.
Meditation two: Is it easy to be a disciple of Christ? The Lord Jesus first stated that this was not an easy way. He demands that all those who follow Christ must abandon their self-centered life perspective, value systems, and world views. The disciple of the Lord is bought at a price, for it calls us to follow the Lord in order to make us pay our life as a price; it is bought at a price since it gives people the very only true life. He promised: “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” (Mat 16:25).
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for your calling and using me. For the calling of your love, I would like to dedicate the rest of my time, energy, gifts, talents, and wealth to you. Strengthen my faith to follow you, and become more firm day after day. Pray in Thy precious holy Name. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Mat 17:20)
Meditation one: Are you facing a big problem like a vast wave of tsunami? Turn your eyes from this vast problem to Jesus Christ. Even the most challenged work or impossible tasks, nothing is too hard for Him because He is the God rules over all.
Meditation two: Do you have a faith as a “mustard seed”? Making the impossible possible does not depend on whether you faith is enough or not, but on your belief in the salvation of Almighty God and Jesus Christ. Even if your faith is as small as a mustard seed, you can achieve all kinds of things through Him as long as you link to the Almighty God who made Jesus resurrected from the death. Faith is by no means an intellectual belief in mind, nor is it an abstract thought, but must be rooted upon the promise of God and the true word of the Bible.
Prayer: God our heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the faith. Help me, whatever encountered, we know to put trust in You. Let my faith be rooted in your unchanging promise, and uphold forever. Pray in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: Jesus said: “ Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Mat 18:3)
Meditation one: Do you think it is easy to do as Lord Jesus took “changing and becoming like little children “as a condition for “entering the Kingdom of Heaven”? It is not easy. Jesus is not referring to the children’s innocence, ignorance, naivety, inability to tell right from wrong, and the immaturity of the mind and body. It means that one’s faith in God is as sincere, obedient, humble, teachable, and pure like a child. These “likeness” are the result of humbleness, repentance, and rebirth in the presence of God.
Meditation two: Do you want to be a true disciple of Christ? You must lay down arrogance, complacency, conceit, self-righteousness, and be humble like a child, admit that you are spiritually poor. In His will, follow the Lord at all times, and fix eyes upon Lord every single moment. Jesus was willing to be humble and obedient to God, so God exalted Him to the highest (Phi 2:8-9)
Pray: Dear God heavenly Father, thank You for showing me on how to enter Your glorious kingdom. Give me the faith like a child, and trust solely on you. Let every day in my life be glorifying You only. Pray in the victorious Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. (Mat 19:26)
Meditate one: Can one have eternal life by doing good things and being a good person? No, you can’t! Can you be saved by going to church from an early age and being familiar with the Bible? No, you can’t! This is what Jesus replied to the wealthy young man. For it is by grace we have been saved through faith. This is not from you; it is the gift of God; not by works, so that no one can boast (Eph 2:8-9). Worldly perspectives of good and bad people are all sinners in the light of God, are people who need the precious blood of the Lord to cleanse.
Meditation two: Why does the Bible say that it is difficult for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? Jesus is not opposed to Christians getting wealthy, but to alert us not to turn wealth into our god and make into a stumbling block to the eternal life. The Lord cautions us, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Mat 6:21)
Pray: Lord Jesus, thank You for letting me understands that salvation through my own works is not going to work. Thank You more for letting me understand that although with myself it is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Teach me to trust in You with all my heart and lean not on my own reason. In all my ways submit to You, and I believe in Your promise – You will make my paths straight. Pray in Thy Holy Name of the highest. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mat 20:28)
Meditation one: Does Christian serve people have to be in the same way as the Lord Jesus “as a ransom for many”? We cannot, but our motivations must follow His example: not to be served, but to serve. In the Kingdom of God, status is not based on your regime, power, and scope, but on the mentality of your ministry. The “greatness” in the eyes of God does not lie in the jurisdiction, but in the service of man. Whoever wants to be great must be a servant (housekeeper) first, and be as willing to pay the price as Christ.
Meditation two: What is the biggest obstacle for you to be a servant of all? Jesus, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God; rather, He made Himself nothing and humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross! His purpose is to help us return to God. We should also emulate Him and serve people in the spirit of sacrificing our lives.
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for Your salvation in Jesus Christ. It is because of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus that I can be blessed. Because of His calling, I can serve. Ask You to train me so I can have the same mindset as Christ, Imitate the humility of Christ, and imitate the humbleness of Christ. May all that I have done in my hands not only be the blessings of all, but also be remembered in Your eyes. Pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.” (Mat 21:13)
Meditation one: What is the saddest scene of a church today? There is a magnificent building on the surface, a modernized equipment system, a solemn liturgy, an affluent worship, but the God people worshiped is not there. Do you know why? The buzz of people pushes God away, or makes the House of God a miasma by human elements. It not only prevents people from worshiping, but also makes people not be able to concentrate on worshiping God.
Meditation two: Why was the Lord Jesus angry? For He saw people trampling on the temple that God values and turning “My Temple” into a club, a trading market, or a social place. How can the Temple of Prayer concentrate on praying in the noise of hawking and uproar? How could people worship God with the same mind when people are clattering?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for teaching me how to treasure the worship. Remind me to pray often for the sincere worship of the church, and often remind me that living a holy life through Your Words in my personal life makes me a dwelling for the Holy Spirit. Let my worship of You not wait until the Sundays, but live a worship life every day. Pray in the precious Holy Name of the Lord Jesus. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. ‘” (Mat 22:37-39)
Meditation one: Do you think you can fulfill the request of “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”? By ourselves we couldn’t do it. Only when we experienced the love of God, which filled, soaked, and energized us, can we then could naturally radiate our love to Him. We love, because God first loved us (1Jn 4:19). How much love you experienced in God is how much you love Him.
Meditation two: Why who loves God will know or be easy to “Love your neighbor as yourself.”? Because when they are touched by God’s love, their lives are transformed into lovable new selves, and they naturally love the people God loves. The most powerful testimony of the church today is not wording, nor the rituals, rules, and size, but whether people in church love one another or not. A loving church naturally attracts people to the Lord.
Prayer: Thank God for Your love that has revealed its perfection in Jesus Christ. I have to admit that I say that I love you, then set back when try to love those who love you. I serve you diligently, but often it is not easy to serve the unlovable ones. Forgive me, and create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. I will love You with the love of all myself and all my heart. Love people, including my families, friends and brothers and sisters in the church, with the love of Yours,. Pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Mat 23:12)
Meditation one: Do you know that serving God is a glorious entrustment? Nevertheless, we have to examine the motivation of our service all the time. We have to remember the lesson of “raising ourselves high” is the tracking of Satan’s Fallen (Isa 14:12-14); Humble myself “is the path of Christ’s glory.” For Jesus, greatness came from serving in humbleness.
Meditation two: What you are working with now, what you are pursuing after, what you are dreaming of, what you are striving for, are they for your own glory? Or is it for the glory of the God who gives you the strength? We, who are disciples of Christ, regardless what we do and where we are, we should serve people with a humble heart as serving the Lord, including serving the least of the brothers.
Prayer: Thank God, through the humbleness of Jesus Christ, I am saved. From time to time, I was complacent because of diligent servings or acquiring some Bible knowledge. Sometimes I would pay attention to my appearance and overlook my inner godliness. Sometimes I cared about the inadequacy of others but did not examine them myself. Forgive my haughty heart, and I am willing to live out Your humbleness, purity, kindness, and glories in the light of the Holy Spirit. Pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.” (Mat 24:45-46)
Meditate one: Who is the servant that God has put in charge? Is it only the full time ministers who serve Lord? No, it is everyone who believes that Lord bought us back from sin at a price, that is, every Christian (1Co 6:20). In front of God, a Christian’s situation is both a member of His household and a servant of God. We are those who belong to God and live for Him in all things. What God has asked of us is to be His servant and to be faithful to Him (1Co 4:1-2)
Meditation two: If Jesus comes today, are you ready? When He sees you, do you wish Him to commend you, or to reprove you? It is totally depending on whether we have fulfilled Lord entrustment. The Crown is not for those who did great works, but for those who fulfilled the Lord’s entrustment.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, Thank you for the good news that You promised to come back the second time. Teach me how I can always on the watch and be awaiting You, making the most of every opportunity and living a godly life. Let me, every day, live a life worthy of the calling I have received. Lord, I would like, in every aspects, to be Your faithful steward. All that I have done is to make Your glory known. I pray in Your precious Holy Name, Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Mat 25:40)
Meditation one: Why God remembers the things you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters? Because the things you are doing for the “least brothers and sisters” whom Jesus treasures in His eyes – they are people who are ignored, abandoned, looked down, and isolated by most of others, and are close by and can be spotted. Have the things we done for them is as much as what Jesus did for them? Our good deeds are not the basis of salvation, but they are the testimony of Christ’s life.
Meditation two: Where is Jesus today? Is He inside a gorgeous church or a cozy Christian Fellowship? He is in a community of poor neighborhood, in a hospital filled with patients, in a prison with many inmates, in a crowd of many broken hearts and souls. The places where Jesus is, is also the places where we serve God and serve people. Our attitude toward Jesus is evident by our attitude toward His brothers.
Prayer: God our Heavenly Father, thank You for instructing me to be ready for where I will be forever. Please open my spiritual eyes and ears so that I can see and hear the needs of the people around me, and be joyful to care, serve, and love them. I pray in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Mat 26:41)
Meditation one: Do we have a way to subdue or defeat Satan demon in the spiritual world? Don’t be naïve. It is shrewder, more sinister, and more evil than you think. It knows the trouble associated with “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak”, so uses all kinds of tricks to confuse people and try every way to satisfy their desires. It is not only to make you living in the darkness but also join together with Satan to test God and to go against God.
Meditation two: What is the means by which Christians can be free from Satan’s bewilderment and victory over Satan? It is to watch and pray all the time! Being watchful is to be alert in every possible temptation, to be sensitive to Satan’s intrigue, and to equip well to resist it. We must rely on prayer to receive God’s power, and only by God we can be more than conquerors. A day without prayer is a day of fallen. A life without prayer is a life of powerless.
Prayer: Thank God, for You know my weakness. Thank You even more that the Holy Spirit You bestowed onto me becomes my ever-present help and strength. Please guide me on how to walk with You every day through prayer and Bible reading, as well as live an watchful life. Lord, I pray not only for my victorious life, but also for the victorious lives of others. Pray in the Name of Lord Jesus. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mat 27:46b)
Meditation one: Jesus is God, why was He nailed on the cross? Why was He nailed on the cross and shouting, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” Because at that moment, the sins of the entire world were crushed on His mind and body. Jesus was not guilty, but He took the burden of all our sins, which made Him separated from God. The moment He was hung on the cross, when He needed God the most, God forsook him. Jesus endured the pain of solitude, aloofness, and abandonment for our sins. All of these are for the purpose of saving the world, including you and me.
Meditation two: Have you been screaming “why” when encountered difficulties or inexplicable things? Jesus has been through it, so He understands. At those moments, you need to come to the Abba Father, Who knows you and understands the whole situation, and pour out a whisper of prayer. He will open the way to help you, accompany you, escort you, and wipe every tear from your eyes. To seek for help, you have to find a true helper.
Prayer: Abba Father, praise the great love You reveled in Christ. There are so many things in this world that I do not understand, but I believe Your promise: “whoever comes to me I will never drive away” (John 6:37). If anything happens, please give me a peaceful heart and, instead of asking “Lord, why?” but asking “Lord, what do You want me to learn?”. I am willing to surrender completely to You. Pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mat 28:19-20)
Meditation one: On what basis did Jesus order us to “go” to the Great Commission of evangelism? It was with His resurrection from the dead that God gave Him all authority in heaven and on earth (Mat 28:18). He has sent us in his capacity as King of kings and Lord of the Lords. We have such glorious privilege to represent Him. We should be used by Him with a heart of gratitude, humility, and obedience until His coming again.
Meditation two: What is your major obstacle to carry out Jesus’ Great Commission? It will be more and more challenge to preach the gospel, but remember that since the resurrected Lord has sent us, He will not abandon us. On the contrary, He will be responsible for us to the end. To preach gospel should not worry about how big the obstacle is, for our Lord will be with us, work with us, and walk with us. We just have to do our part to get the gospel out; God takes care of the rest.
Prayer: God Heavenly Father, thank You for the Great Commission You committed to me. Shine on me. Give me a soul-loving heart, enlarge my spiritual vision, and kindle my missionary passion. Life is short, I am willing to seize the opportunity for You to win the people around the world including people from the same country, race, hometown, and family. Pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
