《Today’s spiritual meditation》:  “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Php 3:13-14)

Meditation one: What do your base on when set a goal for your life? Do you set it by your own standard? Or do you set it by the standards of Jesus Christ? Christians should not be satisfied with a “roughly met” (easy to go) spiritual life, but to strain toward the standards that Christ sets for us to achieve, that is, to be conformed to the image of Christ (Rom 8:29). It is through a lifelong continuous learning, practicing, and growing. To accept the Lord is not the end of pursuing spiritual growth, but the beginning of the growth of spiritual life.

Meditation two: What goal has God set for a Christian? It is Jesus Christ Who is the destination and the goal of our life. When Jesus Christ becomes our goal, it not only shows that our goals are correct, but also means to win the prize for which God has called us in Christ Jesus. By then Lord Jesus will tell you that “you are a faithful and good servant, you have done well”. Christians’ works are not for their salvation, which should be justified by faith. Yet the works are for the heavenly prize.

Prayer: God heavenly Father, thank You for setting a beautiful plan for my life. It is challenging to walk along the narrow heavenly pathway. Please strengthen my faith. I am willing to rely on Your power, to forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead, and to press on precisely toward the goal You have destined for me. I pray in the victorious name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
