“Today’s spiritual meditation”: “Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.” (Joel 2: 13)

Meditation one: When Christians face a series of natural and man-made disasters in the world, what attitude should we have? We must not only reflect on whether our country has sinned against God, but also reflect on the spiritual situation of our churches, and more importantly, reflect on our personal spiritual situation. God’s calamity is a warning to us, and He also gives us an opportunity to turn back to Him. God is gracious and merciful, and if we turn to Him, He will give us hope of salvation.

Meditation two: What do Christians speak of repentance? It is not a superficial repentance that tears the clothes, but a true repentance that tears the heart. The repentance that God wants is not just ceremonial, but heartfelt. There are only empty rituals, which God does not accept them. When King David committed a monstrous sin, he repented and prayed to God, saying, “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.” (Psalm 51:17)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your far better love. Even though sometimes I am disobedient, rigid, and ignorant, Your saving hand is always open to me. Lord, help me to ccreate in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Because of Your love, I will love and serve You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I prayer is in the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen!
