Bible Reading: Romans 10.

Meditation:  “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Rom 10:9-10)

Meditation one: Is it easy for you to declare with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord? The Bible refers the declaration is not as a mere mouth, but as a solemn assertion of faith (confess) that Jesus is the Lord, a confession that may have to pay a price. The belief described in the Bible is also a true belief in the fact that Jesus has resurrected from the dead. If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith (1Co 15:14). The declaration required by the Bible is a heartfelt declaration, and the belief required by the Bible refers to the faith that can be revealed through one’s deeds.

Meditation two: Is Jesus the Lord in your life? Which position does He have in your family, church, workplace, ministry, and interpersonal relationship? Is He the highest or the lesser? Is He the master or the servant? Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Mat 7:21). We call Jesus the Lord, which means that we will do God’s will.

Prayer: God heavenly Father, thank You for Your gracious redemption. Ask your Holy Spirit to help me, and let me live out a life in which my heart is in consistent with my mouth, where faith and deeds are commensurate, and where belief and life are in parallel. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen!
