《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” (Heb 12:1-2)
Meditation one: Are you walking on the road of this world (transiency), or on the path of heaven (eternality)? Christians always race on the “marked out” path, which is the path of Jesus Christ. He is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. The road of this world is always right behind us. No matter how far we are on our path, the road of this world is always only one step behind us. Whenever we turn backwards, we will be dragged away from the right path.
Meditate 2: How do Christians concentrate on the path of heaven? You must “throw off” everything that hinders and “lay aside” the sin that so easily entangles. Put aside all the things that can imperil your relationship with God such as the burdens in your heart like frustration, sorrow, sadness, tension, stress, etc., as well as greed, pleasure, fame, and status that can disorientate you. Then, with the guide of the Holy Spirit, you can press on toward the goal of Christ.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for placing in front of me a great cloud of witnesses who encourage me as cheerleader along the path of heaven. With their cheers, my faith is more steadfast. Let my sight set upon You, not to the left or right, just follow You until the end of the journey You set for me. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen!
