Bible Reading: Hebrews 9

Insight:  :  “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” (Heb 9:27)

Insight one: What is the destiny that the people of this world cannot overthrow? It is that “all people are destined to die!” No matter who you are, rich or poor, how knowledgeable, social status, you cannot traverse the line of death. “The wages of sin is death” (Rom 6:23). What is even more frightening is that this destined death has not been over yet, but “after that to face judgment.” Today, God does not judge you but give you the opportunity to repent because of the exceeding riches of His mercy and kindness. Thank God, because Jesus Christ shed His blood, died on the cross, and He himself bore the sins of the world, so that people can be justified by believing in God, sins can be forgiven, not perish, but have eternal life!

Insight two: Can you be exempted from God’s judgment as long as everything is done by good conscience? This is not possible only because God is the source of all goodness. No matter how good a person is, the person cannot be as good as God is. God knows that it is impossible for people to be saved by their deeds. So He is compassionate, as determined, that it is only by grace, through faith, people can be saved; not by deeds (Eph 2:8-9). The Lord Jesus has promised: “whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (Joh 5:24)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank You for everything that You have done for me, which are immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine. Give me wisdom to cherish my limited time and live for You. Let me on that day is not ashamed to face You, but joyfully to meet You. I prayer in the victorious name of the Lord Jesus, Amen!
