《Today’s spiritual meditation》: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luk 4:18-19)
Meditation one: Jesus mentioned four types of people: the poor, the prisoner, the blind, and the oppressed. Please allow me to ask, which type do you fit in? If you are not one of them, then you may be the luckiest, happiest, and healthiest person in the world. You may be the one who does not need Jesus Christ the most, and the birth of Jesus is irrelevant to you. But from the perspective of God, because of sin, the people in this world is spiritually living in poverty, captivity, blindness, and oppression status. No matter which type of person you belong to, the ending is the same. We all need God’s mercy and salvation.
Meditation two: Since “all have sinned” (Rom 3:23) and “the wages of sin is death” (Rom 6:23), what should we do? Thank God that He became man through the coming of Jesus to save us. The purpose of Jesus’ coming to the world is to make the poor be contented in soul, the captive be freed in spirit, the blinded mind be recovered in sight, and the oppressed be set free from sin. Christmas is the greatest, most precious, and most meaningful gift that God has given to mankind. The question is – have you accepted this gift of love from God?
Prayer: Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for Your marvelous love. You gave us your beloved Son as a gift of love. Christmas season will soon be over. Please help me not to immerse in the enjoyment of the holiday, but to make me proclaim the good news for Christ, to testify of your love through daily life. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
